Upon completion of this Microlesson, students will have explored the value of work-based learning, determined if they want to participate in one, and identified resources to learn more about them.
This 5–15-minute Microlesson contains a short video, and series of questions that will challenge students to think deeper about the topic and apply what they’ve learned.
Access to MyCareerTech materials requires that a teacher login or register; students never log in.

MyCareerTech is free! Since inception we have provided thousands of career-tech classrooms with free educational materials to benefit hundreds of thousands of students across numerous clusters.

In fall 2024, Advance CTE released a new Framework of 14 clusters and 72 sub-clusters. As states and districts work to adopt the new Framework in whole or in part, MyCareerTech will also be working to transition to the new framework for the 2026-2027 school year.
Yes! Click here to Contact Us! Please include the school, or school district name, as well as the city and state it’s located in. Our customer service team will send you a password that can be shared and used by all to login.
Students do not log in or register with MyCareerTech. Rather, lessons come with links to online student tests and activities that are sent to students by their teacher through an LMS or email. When students access the link, they enter their information before taking the test or completing an activity. Upon completion, students are entered into the grade book for that lesson for the teacher to view.
Teachers do not register or upload students with MyCareerTech. Each lesson comes with a link to an online student test or activity. When students receive the link via email or LMS, they enter their information before taking the test. Upon completion of the test, students are entered into the grade book for that lesson for the teacher to view.
MyCareerTech does not limit the number of times a student can take a test. We recommend teachers specify to students how many times they are “allowed” to take a test. Lesson gradebooks record each test and activity completed, the score received, and the date and time it was completed.
The focus of MyCareerTech lessons are our videos. Each video includes closed captioning in English and Spanish. Other materials are currently only offered in English.
MyCareerTech is intended to be used as a paperless, online learning platform. This allows us to be able to continue to provide relevant and up to date materials. However, some components of the lesson such as lesson plans and certificates of completion are printable documents.
Since each teacher’s account is tied to a school, we will have to assign you a new password for your new school. Please complete the Contact Us form on our site so we can help you with this request.
Absolutely! To send any teacher at your school an invite with login credentials, navigate to “My Account” then the “School” tab, and click the green “Invite a teacher” button. You will be asked to enter their first and last name and email address and check a box verifying they are a teacher at your school. They will receive an email from support@mycareertech.com within minutes that contains a link and password to login.
Yes, please help us stay up to date! If a teacher is no longer with your school, please remove them from our database by navigating to “My Account” then the “School” tab.
We understand some school districts have certain network or firewall restrictions in place. If your school’s IT department is not able to unblock the MyCareerTech website so you can view the videos, please use our download feature. Below the embedded video, you will see a yellow box that states, “click here to download.”
Under “My Account,” select the “Gradebooks” tab and click on the desired lesson name with the archived school year.
